Breaking a sweat

The previous Sunday Zoey participated in a 6k fund raiser for the local animal shelter (where Coco was adopted).

Close to the starting line.

The logo for the event is so cute.

We participated in this last year and Zo’s time improved.   Mostly because last year didn’t realize there was a timer until after we walked to sponsor tables and did some basic milling around for a while.

The previous 3 days had been in the upper 80’s 90’s so was relieved that it was closer to the mid 60’s lower 70’s during the walk.

Whether you start in the front or the back, when there are dogs, it doesn’t really matter – their need to bathroom kind of equalizes everyone’s pace.

There was a railroad that ran through this park, Lake Accotink, at one point and there are a number of bridges.

Dropped my Fitbit a little after mile marker 2 and had to circle back.  Felt bad for making Zo walk the extra length so carried her for a bit.

Compared to last year, Zoey walked the vast majority of it (maybe 95%) of the 6 k on her own.  So proud of her.

She took a few breaks for a snack and water.

And she finished in an hour and 12 mins.

She ate half a hotdog as a reward.  And to fuel up for next year’s 6k.
