I was planning on making a bag for the dogs’ Auntie T for Christmas but somehow never got to it. So it became a delayed Valentine’s Day gift.
This bag has an external pocket, an internal zipper pocket and an external zipper.
The fabrics :
- Faux suede herringbone
- herringbone fox
- teal elephants
Love this faux suede. Wish I had more.
Zo and Co wouldn’t get off the fabric.
Ironed on some heavy duty interfacing to the wrong side of the faux suede.
Made an interior zip pocket with the elephant fabric.
Sewed a rectangle to attach the fox liner with the elephant fabric and cut the center where the zip would be exposed.
Flipped the elephant fabric through the zipper slit.
Taped the zipper to the elephant fabric and sewed it on.
Sewed the pocket edges and turned the liner over. It looks a bit bulky in the corners.
Added zipper tabs and attached the zipper to the faux suede.
Should have made the zipper shorter so the tabs show more.
Sewed the liner fabric to the external zipper.
Sewed and external pocket and top stitched to the outer fabric.
It looked bad so removed it.
Pinned the pocket to the external fabric. When the external fabric is sewn together, the seams of the pocket are hidden.
Added straps for the square rings where the strap is attached.
They were 3” by 2”.
Had the rings’ straps been longer, would have added rivets.
Pinned the lining together and the exterior fabrics together and flipped right side out.
The external pocket can be flipped to either side- with the fox fabric on the inside or outside.
Made the strap.
Love rivets. They make straps look more put together.
Attached strap to bag
It looks cute on Coco.
Auntie T sent these photos of her cat, Mouse.
He seems to like it.
