Makeup pouch for me

I’ve been using a free bag from Glossier as the holder of my daily makeup.    It is flat so it keeps falling over, hitting taller bottles like contact solution and toner, and basically causing everything on the bathroom counter to fall like dominoes.

The materials:

  • green duck canvas – sides
  • waterproof chevron – lining
  • faux black leather – gusset, base
  • 2 zippers

This is the first time using canvas.   It is stiff enough not to need interfacing.

Zo liked the green.

Zo was playing with the faux leather.   Looking a lil goth.

Co loves to photobomb.

The makeup bag ended up being 7” tall, 9 “ wide, 3” deep.   It was a little too big.   Next time would remove an inch from each dimension.

Instead of a regular zip bag wanted a larger mouth so one end of the zip extends past the sides.

Also added a zip pocket on the side.

Because the zipper hangs over the bag, the zipper cannot be sewn to the edge of the canvas and the top looks messy.

Co examining the stitching.

Fortunately this is not a gift so I can live with that.   For now.

Things to think about for next time:

….   yeah… not really sure how to keep the zipper from being sewn yet finishing the seams cleanly    So don’t think I’ll be making a wide mouth zip bag anytime soon.

Planning on using duck canvas for a casual summer bag.
