The previous ring clutch was rather a bust.
Hopefully having learned something from the previous attempt, made another with a thinner metal ring and is wider rather than taller. (14” by 10”). If this was a Japanese game show, this would be considered a revenge match.
Materials:
- Silver foil faux leather
- teal poodle print cotton
- metal ring
- black zipper
Would have preferred a thicker silver ring but this was less than $4 from amazon so can’t really complain.
Ironed medium heavy initerfacing to the back of the silver.
Added tabs to the zipper.
Cut 3 10” by 2.5” strips of silver fabric. Folded them in half lengthwise right sides facing and sewed to make them tubes. Turned inside out and noticed there was already distressing. The silver foil is quite delicate / crappy.
Cut the tubes in half and sewed the straps around the ring.
Added the zipper.
Added a zozofiona label to a simple pocket and sewed to the liner.
Co studying the poodle fabric . She looks like she approves.
Added bronze rivets.
The finished product:
One person described it as David Bowie/ space. Another said it had a Tina Turner/ Mad Max vibe. Thanks to the 2 toned metallic distressed look, it does have an 80’s ruined future vibe.
Co thought there were treats inside,
She might have found something.
Queen Zo considers this hers.
This turned out much better than the previous ring clutch but the silver fabric is too thin. Even with moderately heavy interfacing it feels flimsy. When carrying around a tablet, phone, wallet, and other necessities it just isn’t comfortable. Kinda like wearing a too thin oven glove trying to grasp an oddly shaped baking dish. Maybe with twice as heavy interfacing this could work?
Also, need a strap. Stopped by the grocery store carrying this bag. Walking around the store, realized I could only carry 2 items when I saw a woman holding a clutch, pushing a cart, and dealing with an animated toddler. Wearing heels. Some people are terribly competent while I couldn’t hold on to this while trying to place a bagel in a pastry bag. So maybe the fault is not in the design but in ourselves (me).
However will prob continue to try to find a clutch design I can deal with.
