For the Star Wars wedding shower, made these lanterns: https://www.adventure-in-a-box.com/star-wars-paper-lanterns/
Went with just Darth Vader and the stormtroopers since the theme was ‘Welcome to the Dark Side’,
Materials:
- black cardstock
- printable vellum
- battery powered tealights
Printed the templates on white cardstock and cut them out.
Traced them onto black cardstock with pencil.
Cut 3 at a time. Made x in the middle of the Darth Vader face with a paper cutter to make it easier.
Cutting and pasting took so long Zo got grumpy.
Printed the faces on vellum. The template only has 1 of each face per page but can flip the paper upside down to fit another set and waste less vellum.
Applied the faces with adhesive dots. Adhesive dots are the greatest gift to humanity (at least for this project)
Folded all of the tabs over.
These have a 3” square bottom.
Cut 2 of the sides a little shorter but that didn’t really do much. Needed to make them all less than 3 inches.
Adhered the base to a side.
Put 2 dots on the base and 2 on the side.
For the stormtroopers made all 4 sides have faces to allow more light.
To finish, glued the tabs at the top.
With tealights:
Co liked them.
Zo examined them closely for quality issues.
The dogs’ dad’s mom made the cutest card.
The interior has Darth.
Also picked up a mango mousse cake from Whole Foods. They did a great job decorating.
And made cheese biscuits from this recipe: https://www.browneyedbaker.com/red-lobster-cheddar-bay-biscuits-recipe/
Baked 27 mini ones (not all pictured below) instead of a dozen.
They were pretty close to the real thing, according to my boss who once worked at Red Lobster. But could be fluffier (granted they were prob better hot from the oven than waiting 6 hours).
The lanterns were cute and fun. Would def make something similar again for the right occasion.
