Happy Valentine’s Day!

A few posts back, made a Valentine’s Day dress for  Coco.  It is Zoey’s turn.

The material:

• pink satin with red velvet hearts
• pink lace

Cut out the front and back of the bodice.

Sewed the edges.

For the skirt, cut a 4” by 34” rectangle and sewed the edges.

Layered a pieces of lace 5” by 34” underneath the skirt.

Added knife pleats.   Next time, will sew the sides of the lace and skirt fabric together before making the pleats,

Pinned skirt with bodice.

Dress without straps.

Added 1” by 5” straps on the shoulders.

Trying to decide whether this is finished.   Had originally planned adding flutter sleeves but Zoey has short legs, they may be overwhelming.

Zoey looks cute in it.

Improvements for next time:

• Cut the front and back of the bodice an inch longer (yellow section) so it sits up higher on the neck
• Add snaps on the straps where it attaches to the back (blue arrow)

Coco also tried it on too.

Some people say Coco looks better in this than Zoey but I’d rather not admit that….
